Athletic Giving Supporting URI
The University of Rhode Island maintains
a proud tradition of athletic achievement.
Through intercollegiate sports, club sports,
intramurals, and recreational activities,
the URI athletic program is firmly grounded
in the belief that its participants are
truly student-athletes.
The Rhode Island Rams Athletic Association
(RIRAA) is the official fundraising arm
that supports URI Athletics and its student-athletes.
Every year, generous alumni, parents, and
friends give to the RIRAA in support of
Rhody Athletics. In addition to the satisfaction
you receive knowing your gift helps provide
our student-athletes with the best possible
experience at URI, your gift makes you eligible
for preferred seating at basketball and
football and for other great benefits.

donor pledges $1 Million to URI Athletics.
The University of Rhode Island's baseball
facilities will undergo major upgrades thanks
to the first-ever $1 million pledge to the
Department of Athletics as part of the Making
a Difference campaign.
"We are so appreciative of this extremely
generous gift to URI Athletics and, in particular,
to our baseball program," said Thorr
Bjorn, director of athletics. "Because
of this gift, we are able to upgrade the
playing surface at Bill Beck Field, as well
as provide both our baseball and softball
student-athletes with an indoor batting
facility."
"The donor understood the importance
of allocating a portion of the gift toward
the Student-Athlete Development
Center, which is going to enhance
the overall experience for the 500-plus
URI student-athletes," Bjorn added.
Construction will begin at the end of the
spring baseball season with completion set
for the end of summer 2008.
