Student Philanthropy Council

Who we are.

The URI Foundation’s Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) is a diverse and creative group of students who have joined together to help raise awareness about the impact philanthropy has on the entire University community.

The main objectives of the SPC are to educate the student-body and foster a spirit of giving by planning engaging and meaningful awareness and fundraising activities for the campus. The Council’s message is simple: donor support is critical in enhancing the overall learning experience for everyone.

What we do.

Students who serve on the council have the opportunity to plan campus events, work with the annual giving office on various initiatives and meet and network with alumni and others on campus while also enhancing their personal leadership skills.  The Council is made up of approximately 25 students and they meet weekly, as a rule.

Any student interested in promoting philanthropy awareness is welcome to join!  For more information on the Student Philanthropy Council please contact Joanne Gemma, Associate Director of Annual Giving at the URI Foundation at 401.874.5514 or at joannegemma@uri.edu.

Thank you, Rhody Rams, for joining with the SPC in showing your spirit! More than 1,000 URI students made gifts to the University in 2017, supporting programs that impact their peers, like the Student's First Fund, which assists URI students facing hardship.
